  • The Times-Picayune and The New Orleans Advocate name Search Influence a winner of the New Orleans Top Workplaces 2020 Award

Search Influence is proud to be named a winner of the New Orleans Top Workplaces 2020 Award by The Times-Picayune and The New Orleans Advocate, among a list of 70 independently selected companies.

Search Influence is honored to be recognized as a Top Workplace in the small companies category.

This is the 6th year of the New Orleans award, which is powered by Energage, a third party company who conducts a quantitative and qualitative assessment of nominated companies.

For this year’s award, Energage surveyed 32,694 employees in the Greater New Orleans area to measure satisfaction across 15 culture drivers.

“In times of great change, it is more important than ever to maintain a connection among employees,” said Eric Rubino, Energage CEO. “When you give your employees a voice, you come together to navigate challenges and shape your path forward based on real-time insights into what works best for your organization. The Top Workplaces program can be that positive outcome your company can rally around in the coming months to celebrate leadership and the importance of maintaining an employee-focused culture, even during challenging times.”

Search Influence has invested significantly in company culture over the last several years in an effort to create an engaged and effective team that produces the results we and our clients expect from our work.

The two things that stood out in our survey were Search Influence’s transparency and core values. Our team truly knows and understands our values, and most importantly, lives by them.

Our company’s core values, which spell CHARGED:

    • Collaborative
    • Hungry
    • Agile
    • Reliable
    • Genuine
    • Effective
    • Dedicated

Our team commented on several aspects of our company culture. Those key things include:

    • Keeping our core values alive in the organization
    • Communication & transparency
    • Clear feedback mechanisms
    • Benefits and perks that allow our team to balance their priorities across personal and work life

“This is a place to learn, grow, develop professionally, and help businesses/non-profits and the like market themselves and grow. The company values employees and the benefits package makes it possible for people to ‘work to live’ not ‘live to work.’ ”

    —Account Management employee

“The leadership team puts a real emphasis on listening to employee feedback… The company has made major changes in the last few years as a direct result of employee feedback, and I am confident they will continue to evolve.”

    —Account Management employee

“Everyone is so dedicated to the success of this company! Being transparent with everyone at the company has been a lot of fun and makes me want to continue to strive to be more and more transparent, as I see that as a benefit that people love.”

    —Employee

We thank our “CHARGED” team for their support in making Search Influence the company that we all love, especially our leaders, who help steer the ship.

Finally, congratulations to our fellow winners! We are honored to be listed alongside so many fantastic and well-respected New Orleans companies.

  • A Message from our CEO & COO

Please read below a message to our team from Will and Angie Scott, our co-founders and CEO, COO respectively, which Will delivered with the support of the Search Influence executive team on June 9, 2020.

    Dear Influencers,

I want to start with a quote from Ibram X Kendi, an author on Race and Racism who published an anti-racist reading list in The New York Times and whose book I listened to over the last week. Mr. Kendi says:

“No one becomes ‘not racist,’ despite a tendency by Americans to identify themselves that way. We can only strive to be ‘antiracist’ on a daily basis, to continually rededicate ourselves to the lifelong task of overcoming our country’s racist heritage.”

I’m sure many of you join me in having been—at different times—shocked, saddened, and enraged over the last few weeks. Some of you have been on this rollercoaster your whole lives, while many of us have had the luxury of confining it to moments in time.

I appreciate those of you who have gone to the protests in the last week. I appreciate those of you who are reading, educating yourselves, and doing the work of self reflection. Thank you.

At Search Influence we believe unequivocally that Black lives matter and we are committed to the equitable treatment of all our team members. We recognize that our demographics don’t match those of the city in which we live and work. We still have work to do.

We have always had a strict policy of “you be you.” We want to see you. And we love you.

There’s no such thing as color blind. We want to revel with you in whatever culture you call home.

To the extent you are comfortable being you at work, please know we want to see you.

Please take this as a call to action. Help us be better. If any of our team members—up to and including Angie and me—appear to be insensitive, let us know. I know we don’t have anyone working here who would seek to intentionally offend or demonstrate bias, but I am sure we won’t always get it right. We may need help to do better.

    Will Scott

  • Search Influence Offers Free Consulting Sessions to Businesses Impacted by COVID-19

If there’s one thing we can expect toSearch Influence - Free Marketing Consulting Sessions for COVID impacted businesses be constant during this time, it’s that the landscape is changing rapidly. The past few weeks have been a whirlwind of fast decisions and agile updates to operations, marketing, and of course, our personal lives.

We know some companies have been able to move their services and operations online while others have had to cancel events and close, with no idea of when they’ll reopen. These changes to operations (and likely marketing budgets) create a lot of questions:
    – How can I stay relevant during this time?
    – Does it make sense to advertise right now?
    – What forms of free marketing can I be doing?
    – Is advertising less expensive right now?
    – What are my competitors doing?
    – How can I best use this time to plan for when we are able to resume normal operations?

We spent the last two weeks figuring out how to move forward and discovered some really impactful learnings. We want to share these tactics to help more businesses move forward with confidence.

Our team is available for strategy sessions to help you answer your questions. We’re offering a free hour of consulting so you can move forward with a plan for your unique situation.

The consulting sessions are intended to help businesses understand how they can market during the current economic climate and how to plan for the future when consumer behavior begins to normalize. Search Influence strategists will discuss the following with each business:

Goals: Define what each business can accomplish in this time.
Audience: Identify target consumers best to engage with in the short-term.
Messaging: Determine the value each business can offer at this moment.
Tactics: Solidify the free and paid actions needed to spread that message.

This offer has now expired, but we would still love to help. If you are ready to chat now, call (504) 336-3422 and press 1 to reach our Sales & Strategy team.

Search Influence 2019 Year in Review

A Happy & Prosperous 2019 for Our Clients

This year our Account Management team put a focus on strategy and client ROI, spending significant time ensuring that our campaigns align with our clients’ ultimate goals. Leveraging the methodology of SMART Goal setting, we worked hard to ensure all aspects of our campaigns are connected to the greater purpose of achieving client goals. And we have made these goals transparent to every member of our agency so that each individual can understand how their work is connected to the big picture.

We launched and ran successful campaigns for key clients, including New Orleans City Park, Creole Cuisine Restaurant Concepts, the Tulane School of Professional Advancement, New Orleans Wine & Food Experience, and many more.

Through a newly-formatted quarterly feedback survey, we solicited valuable insights from our clients about their experience with us and gathered some amazing testimonials:

    On Data and Analytics Reporting:

“One of the biggest advantages to using Search Influence is their transparency and collaboration in reporting on analytics. The SI team worked with the Tulane School of Professional Advancement (SoPA) to determine what analytics and benchmarks were most important to us and made sure to align them to our outcomes. Each month, the SI team presents these data and analytics to the SoPA team and we ask questions, discuss strategy, and make data-informed decisions. Search Influence works with us each month to refine both the gathering and reporting of data. As a result, not only do we have a better understanding of the impact of our digital strategy, we are part of a continuous improvement process.”
From Christa Payne, Assistant Dean at the Tulane School of Professional Advancement

    On Expertise and Client Experience:

“I tell pretty much anyone who will listen how much I love working with y’all. Jordan and Ariel are both amazing—they’ve done so much for our Editorial Team and our overall approach to content on the site. On top of being incredibly knowledgeable, they do a great job of explaining oftentimes complicated subject matter to our team in a way that’s approachable. 10/10—y’all are the best!”
From Hartley Casbon Wasser, Director of Editorial & Content Marketing of New Orleans Tourism & Marketing Corporation

    On Holistic Marketing Strategy:

“Search Influence has been an integral and essential part of the New Orleans Wine and Food Experience’s marketing. The team goes above and beyond to make sure we are happy and taken care of. At the beginning of each season for NOWFE, Search Influence sees our vision and then brings it to life, offering advice and suggestions along the way to help meet our goals. I know that when I give the Search Influence team a task that it will be done, and having that kind of trust and loyalty in this industry is everything to us.“
From Aimee Brown, Executive Director of New Orleans Wine & Food Experience

A Productive & Rewarding 2019 for Our Employees

The biggest development in 2019 for our team was our move from downtown New Orleans to a historic building in Central City! Moving from the CBD resulted in savings for both the company and each individual employee thanks to FREE PARKING! We also gained several outdoor spaces for our team to enjoy and use for collaboration. We’ve already enjoyed using our new space to host clients for in-person meetings and lend meeting space to organizations in need. We hosted our first Careers Open House this December, welcoming 20+ prospective employees and others looking to network.

Ribbon cutting at Search Influence's new office at 1610 Oretha Castle Haley Blvd, New Orleans, LA

We’re proud to say that our team rallied around a collective goal to achieve a profit threshold this year, and we accomplished it months earlier than planned! Through a culture of transparency (we share financials in our company-wide meetings monthly) and collaboration, we worked together to exceed our own expectations. No doubt this is thanks to the hard work of each individual team member staying connected to client goals and delighting our clients with strong results.

    A Focus on Professional Development

Members of our team traveled to Austin, Denver, and Nashville to further their education in key areas of our work, from Local SEO to Analytics and tracking. A key initiative for the year was a renewed commitment to our employees’ personal and professional growth. We kicked off a program enabling all employees access to a mentor from our leadership team (from any department) and empowered them to set SMART Goals for their personal and/or professional lives.

    A Focus on Fun

When we worked together to achieve milestones set by our leadership team through quarterly planning, we celebrated with a Stranger Things themed party that featured Eggo waffles and just about any topping you can dream up. We mused. We boozed. We watched movies. We played Clue. We found fun ways to unwind together. Our work—and more importantly our clients—are better because of it!

    Can’t-Miss Content From 2019

Our core purpose is to “optimize potential,” the potential of our clients, our employees, and the community in which we work. One way we live this is by constantly growing and sharing our knowledge with the larger community, whether within our industry or to small businesses or nonprofits in need.

This year, our team produced presentations, blogs, and oodles of content to educate the larger community of which we are a part. We spoke at several conferences, luncheons, and community organizations. And we consistently kept our blog updated with useful information. Here are five of our most-read blogs in 2019:

    Cheers to 2020

Writing this post has made it clear that capturing the happenings in a digital agency like ours over the course of a year is nearly impossible! With such a fast pace to our work and industry and a company goal of continuous improvement, it was a year packed with fun, exciting changes, and growth. We look forward to dialing up the fun and prosperity—here’s to seeing you in 2020!
