@Mike,

Thanks!

@Mary

I completely agree that the More About This Place section was axed because it isn't really of use to consumers. Honestly, the citations that Google chose to index in this section had become so junky, ahem, Demandforce, that they weren't even (usually) that useful to SEOs anymore.

The disappearance of the Additional Details section is indeed the most puzzling of Google's moves in this update. The only reason I can think of Google taking it away is to add it back as a paid feature at a later date. Maybe the next step is to add an enhanced listing option?

I agree completely Joseph. I think Google is definitely on the attack. It only needed 3rd party reviews until it had enough of its own to use.

My thought on the Places UI update is that they may be cleaning it up for mobile. Big call to action buttons and the most important info at the very top. Photos and more reviews if you want to scroll down for them. Citations (More about this place) weren't really of much use to prospective customers and were probably only of interest to SEOs, so why keep them.

The disappearance that really puzzles me though is the Additional Details section. Those fields added some real meat to the listings. What the heck are they doing with them?

Thanks for the insight, Mary
